Healthcare is personal when it’s the only hospital for miles.
Tendward Health was founded on a simple belief: where someone lives shouldn’t determine whether their community can sustain access to quality healthcare.
Why Tendward Health?
To tend is to care for, cultivate, strengthen, and sustain. -ward speaks to direction, to moving something forward.
Tendward Health brings those ideas together.
We work alongside rural and community healthcare organizations to strengthen the financial and operational systems that make local care possible. Because sustainable healthcare isn’t only about what happens inside a hospital. It’s about preserving access, supporting local jobs, strengthening trusted care teams, and helping communities thrive.
Meet Mekhela Ghebrehiwet, MBA, CPC, CPMA, CPB
Mekhela Ghebrehiwet is the founder of Tendward Health, bringing nearly 15 years of healthcare experience across revenue cycle operations, consulting, leadership, and education.
Her work has included partnering with rural hospitals and healthcare organizations to address complex challenges across the revenue cycle, from patient access, authorization, billing, denials, and accounts receivable to operational workflows, performance measurement, organizational structure, and revenue-cycle transformation.
Through both consulting and interim leadership roles, Mekhela has worked alongside executives and frontline teams to move beyond identifying problems and toward building practical systems that create measurable, sustainable improvement.
She holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications and is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Her approach combines financial and operational strategy with a belief that meaningful healthcare transformation must account for the people responsible for carrying it forward.
The goal isn’t simply a healthier revenue cycle. It’s a healthcare organization with the strength to continue serving its community.
Our Approach.
People. Systems. Communities.
People
Sustainable change begins with the people doing the work. We prioritize clarity, education, accountability, and practical solutions teams can actually maintain.
Systems
Strong performance requires more than individual effort. We strengthen the workflows, infrastructure, data, and processes that support consistent results.
Communities
When local healthcare organizations are financially and operationally healthy, communities are better positioned to maintain access to the care they depend on.
